Religious Education Classes for Children Touched by Autism
Last year Our Lady of Grace Parish completed a Sacramental Preparation class for children with an autism spectrum disorder for First Communion, Reconciliation and Confirmation. The program met with such success from the children involved, their parents and the (high school aged) Catechists that it will continue again this year but in a broader way as we will now offer Sacramental preparation classes and religious education classes for Grades 1 – 8. Classes will again be held in the school library Sunday mornings at 8:30 am.
Autistic children (PDD, NOS, Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome) will again be welcomed and invited into this program.
High School aged students interested in learning and becoming “Catechists” for these children to supplement returning high school Catechists are asked to contact me directly (l.sutton@olgscott.org) or to write/call Our Lady of Grace rectory (412-297-7070 – 310 Kane Boulevard, Scott Township 152430).
