Penance
(Confession, Reconciliation)

From the Catechism:

1421: The Lord Jesus Christ, physician of our souls and bodies, who forgave the sins of the paralytic and restored him to bodily health, has willed that his Church continue, in the power of the Holy Spirit, his work of healing and salvation, even among her own members. This is the purpose of the two sacraments of healing: the sacrament of Penance and the sacrament of Anointing of the Sick.

1444: In imparting to his apostles his own power to forgive sins the Lord also gives them the authority to reconcile sinners with the Church. This ecclesial dimension of their task is expressed most notably in Christ’s solemn words to Simon Peter: “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. (Mt. 16:19; cf. MT 18:18; 28:16-20) “ . . .

1450: “Penance requires . . . the sinner to endure all things willingly, be contrite of heart, confess with the lips, and practice complete humility and fruitful satisfaction.”

Confessions are heard Saturdays from 12 noon-1 PM, and any time by appointment.
First Confession/Reconciliation is scheduled on two consecutive Tuesday evenings during the Lenten season. Two parent meetings are usually scheduled in October to reveiw Catholic teaching about this Sacrament and address any related administrative issues.
A sincere and thorough Examination of Conscience is a critical aspect of a valid Confession. A variety of formats are provided below, along with a brief catechetical review of the Catholic teaching on the Sacrament of Confession/Reconciliation (all pdf files).
