Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

     The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) describes the process through which adults enter or complete the entrance into the Catholic Church. The RCIA is “a gradual process that takes place within the community of the faithful.” Through reading, prayer, instruction, and reflective discussion, participants prepare for reception of the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation), along with the Sacrament of Reconciliation, at the Easter Vigil Mass.
     Beginning in the fall, participants meet on Thursday evenings from 7:30-9 PM at the Staff Center. During the Lenten season, classes are held on Sunday mornings following the Liturgy of the Word during the 9:30 AM Mass. Following Easter, classes resume on Thursday evenings until the completion of the course. For additional information, please contact the Office of Family Life and Adult Catechesis, 412-276-0278.

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults

Are you or someone you know interested in becoming Catholic? Or are you a Catholic adult who would like to complete the Sacraments of Initiation (Eucharist and/or Confirmation)?  The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (R.C.I.A.) is the process through which adults enter, or complete their initiation into, the Catholic Church.  Through prayer, instruction, reflective discussion and reading, participants share a journey of conversion and spiritual growth leading to the reception of the Sacraments at Easter.
