Christian Service & Support

Bereavement Ministry
The death of a loved one brings a great sense of loss and changes our lives forever. Members of the Bereavement Team seek to offer comfort and support to parishioners who are grieving. Efforts include a letter writing ministry to parishioners who have lost a spouse.

Catholic Men’s Fellowship
“We are Catholic men of Christ, called by God to grow through His Church.” The mission of the Catholic Men’s Fellowship is to raise awareness among Catholic men of the need to re-experience the spiritual awakening originally received at Baptism and to nurture and deepen their on-going relationship with Jesus Christ through the working of the Holy Spirit, so that they can live their God-given roles within their marriages, families, careers, and church. The Catholic Men’s Fellowship is for all men of the parish, whether single or married. Meetings take place two Sundays each month from 7:00-8:30 PM.

Ladies of Charity
The Ladies of Charity is a worldwide association of dedicated women who, recognizing the needs present in the Church today, give personal service to the poor, the sick and the elderly. In our parish, members visit the sick, assist families in time of need, pray, and help in the planning and implementation of the annual Anointing of the Sick Mass and reception. Meetings take place once a month following the 9:30 AM Mass.

Respect Life Committee
“The Gospel of God’s Love for man, the Gospel of the dignity of the person and the Gospel of Life, are a single and indivisible Gospel” (Evangelium Vitae #2). The Our Lady of Grace Respect Life Committee serves our parish by fostering opportunities to affirm the sacred character of human life through service, prayer, education, and public witness. Committee members meet once a month, September-June, and coordinate parish activities for Respect Life Month (October), the parish bus trip to the March for Life and other simple efforts throughout the year. New members are welcome, as are volunteers willing to help out on an as needed basis.

St. Vincent de Paul Society
The St. Vincent de Paul Society of Our Lady of Grace brings the love of Jesus to the forgotten, suffering, and deprived through a variety of charitable works. Members meet at 7:30 PM on the first Monday of every month, and at 12 noon each remaining Monday. SVdP sponsors a food collection the first Sunday of every month to help meet the needs of people in our area. This food is supplemented by meat and chicken purchased by SVdP and stored in our food pantry freezer. An additional food collection is held Thanksgiving Day.
Donations are shared with Holy Rosary Parish and the Little Sisters of the Poor. Each Sunday, bakery goods are collected from a local grocery store and delivered to the SVdP Center on the North Side.  SVdP collaborates with the Director of Social Services in purchasing and delivering gifts for needy families at Christmas time, delivering gifts to shut-ins throughout the year, and responding to individuals and families who contact the parish seeking assistance with food, heating bills or other necessities.
In addition, SVdP manages the church book racks and poor boxes, and contributes on a monthly basis to SVdP of Prince of Peace Parish in the South Side and SVdP of Sioux Falls, SD (Indian Reservations), and on a quarterly basis to SVdP of Nicaragua. Collection bins are located in the upper church parking lot for donations of clothing.
