Safe Environment Policy for the Diocese of Pittsburgh.

SAFE ENVIRONMENT POLICY FOR THE DIOCESE OF PITTSBURGH

A parish community is always buzzing with worship experiences and activities that include children and youth. Beyond Sunday Mass, the parish school, and religious education programs, you
will find children’s liturgy of the word, vacation bible school, youth ministry, the Parish Festival, fish fry, and much more.
These activities help to form and shape the faith journey of countless young Catholics. Because a parish community should always be a safe place for children and youth to gather, and because safety of all children should be first and foremost in every adults mind, the Diocese of Pittsburgh developed the “Safe Environment Policy.”
Requirements of this policy can be viewed on the Diocesan website www.diopitt.org and clicking on the ‘Protection of Children’ link at the top of the page. Because of the presence of so many young people in our parish, most involved in any parish ministry must be in compliance.
If you are currently a volunteer and have received a letter asking for renewal information, please return your paperwork to the rectory as soon as possible.  If you are unsure of your status or
are planning on volunteering, please contact Beth Figas, Safe Environment Coordinator, at (412)561-3300 Ext.101 or bfigas@stbpgh.org.
