Our parish Religious Education Program is designed to support and nurture the faith of every family. Recognizing that the, “parents are the first and foremost educators of their children [who] educate or catechize informally, but powerfully by example and instruction.” National Catechetical Dictionary, our program is highly structured to ensure our students grow in their love for Christ and the Church.
Religious Education Classes (Confraternity for Christian Doctrine or CCD)
Religious Education classes are offered in our parish school from September through May, on two Sunday morning sessions from 10:00-11:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.-noon (Grades K-8); and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 - 7:45 p.m. (Grades 1-8). A catechist (Religious Education teacher) and an aide will teach a class of no more than 25 children. Classes for the 2016-17 academic year will begin on Sunday, September xx and Wednesday, September xx.
Home-based and home-school programs are also offered if desired. Home based instructional groups of 8-10 students meet in parishioners’ homes and use program textbooks to cover the same content as the on-site program. Parents of children in non-sacramental years are also able to use the program textbook to home school their children with all related homework and an end-of-year interview conducted by the Coordinator for Religious Education.
